  • James Knowles

    British-Columbia Representative since 2025

Originally from Leeds, England, James eventually made his way to Calgary before settling in Victoria, BC. With him, a lifelong passion for strength. Having followed World’s Strongest Man since the early 90s, James was no stranger to the sport, but it wasn’t until after a rugby career and a knee injury at 37 that he stepped onto the competition floor himself. Within his very first year, he qualified for provincials — and he’s been hooked ever since. For James, Strongman feels like home. The camaraderie, support, and team-like atmosphere mirror what he experienced in rugby: athletes pushing one another, celebrating success, and lifting each other up even as direct competitors. That same spirit drives him to host intro sessions at his local gym, encouraging new lifters to discover the sport and community he loves. Beyond competing, James has also contributed in a hands-on way through Heathen Strength, building custom equipment for athletes and competitions. From logs and stone sleeves to a Hercules Hold. His passion and dedication continue to grow.

  • Tyson Delay

    British-Columbia Representatives since 2022

From powerlifting beginnings to a decorated Strongman career, Tyson’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. His early years on the amateur circuit were a grind, and in 2019 he placed last at Nationals — but that setback lit the fire for one of the greatest comeback stories in Canadian Strongman. Since then, Tyson has smashed records, broken a world record, and set multiple Canadian records along the way. With back-to-back 2nd place finishes at Nationals (2022–2023), he reached the top of the podium in October 2024 with a dominant gold-winning performance. But Tyson’s impact extends far beyond competition. A passionate promoter of the sport, he never hesitates to invite new faces into Strongman, encouraging them to train and learn. Since 2017, he has hosted 1–3 competitions annually, bringing the sport to newspapers, radio stations, and communities across BC. He’s volunteered countless hours, traveled extensively to support events, and run lifting seminars to share safe and effective practices in this demanding sport.

  • Josh Cloherty

    Josh Cloherty

    Alberta Representative since 2022

For over 10 years, Josh has been deeply involved in the world of Strongman. A passion first sparked watching the sport with his dad during the holidays. After signing up for his very first competition in BC and earning 2nd place in his weight class, he was instantly hooked. When his dad was diagnosed with cancer, Strongman became even more meaningful. Training and competing were ways to stay connected through something they both loved, and after his passing, the sport has remained a powerful tribute. From day one, he was welcomed with open arms by the Strongman community, guided and supported by athletes who wanted him to succeed. That experience continues to shape his approach today: giving back by volunteering, hosting shows, and mentoring new athletes. For him, Strongman is unique, a sport where your toughest rivals are also your biggest supporters, pushing each other to grow stronger together. Beyond the competitions and events, Strongman has given Josh one of the greatest gifts of all, it’s where he met his wife, a reminder that the strength of this sport extends far beyond the weights.

  • Shane Bagni

    British-Columbia Representative since 2024

Originally from Calgary but now calling Vancouver home for the past decade, Shane’s journey into Strongman began like many others - as a fan, watching World’s Strongest Man clips on YouTube and following legends like Brian Shaw, Eddie Hall, JF Caron, and Big Z. But it wasn’t until 3–4 years ago, when he signed up for the Surrey Slam novice show, that he truly stepped into the sport. Looking to challenge himself, step outside of his comfort zone, and find a community to belong to, Strongman quickly became the perfect fit. From that very first competition, Shane was hooked — the atmosphere, the camaraderie, and the friendships forged through heavy lifting left a lasting mark. Recognizing the importance of novice and beginner shows, Shane has made it his mission to give back. As a federation rep, he volunteers at every competition he can and has gone on to host both the Vancity Slam, a dedicated novice competition entering its third year in 2026, and Vancouver’s Strongest Man/Woman. While Strongman is still growing in Vancouver, Shane has been at the heart of building the community, bringing athletes together and helping the sport gain traction in BC. His passion, leadership, and commitment to growth make him an invaluable part of the federation’s future.

  • Joscelyne O'Brien

    Alberta Representative since 2023

Splitting her time between Edmonton and Calgary, Joscelyne has been a powerful presence in Strongman since 2020. Beyond Strongman, she’s also tested her strength in powerlifting, MAS wrestling, Highland Games, and even eyeing Olympic lifting in the future. No matter the arena, she brings the same energy, dedication, and competitive spirit. As a federation rep, Joscelyne thrives in leadership. With her Type A organization and drive, she finds fulfillment in planning, hosting, and volunteering at nearly every strength event in Alberta. She’s especially passionate about expanding opportunities for women in the sport and helping Strongman continue to grow. While the role of provincial rep comes with challenges, Joscelyne embraces it fully, seeing it as an opportunity to sharpen her hosting and communication skills — all while giving back to the community she loves

  • Andrew Wilson

    Ontario Representative since 2022

Andrew’s Strongman journey began in 2021 in an unexpected way — when a friend asked him to build some equipment. After trying the implements himself, he was hooked. Training on his own soon led to a life-changing connection: after reaching out on Instagram, he began working with none other than Maxime Boudreault, who has since become both his coach and mentor. Now based in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Andrew trains alongside his fiancée, Sonya, at Just Be Strong Gym, surrounded by some of the world’s strongest athletes. Together, they continue to push limits and grow within the sport. For Andrew, giving back to the Strongman community is just as important as competing. The gratitude he receives from athletes he’s helped — whether it’s hitting a PR, experiencing the thrill of competition, or simply being encouraged — fuels his dedication. As he puts it, “Everything you can do to help somebody, even if it’s small, leaves a lasting impression on their lives.” The Strongman community has given so much to Andrew, and through his role with SCC, he’s committed to making sure it remains a safe, supportive, and inspiring space for all. • Jordan DIckens

    Jordan Dickens

    Atlantic Representative since 2022

He began his strength journey in powerlifting in 2017, after lifting since high school for sport. While training in the Saint John area, he became involved with a small group of athletes training strongman. When a novice competition was announced in Halifax in March 2018, he trained alongside Derrick Brien, who competed in the open class. He went on to place second in the novice division, and from that moment, he was hooked on the sport. A few years later, he recognized a clear need for strongman competitions in New Brunswick. With no events having been held in the province for quite some time and no one stepping up to organize them, he decided to take on the role himself. With access to Fundy CrossFit/Powerlifting and a large pool of equipment through his training group, he was able to make it happen. In 2021, during full COVID restrictions, he hosted the first New Brunswick’s Strongest. Due to capacity limits, the competition had to be run twice—once in the morning and once in the afternoon—to stay within the 30-person limit. The following year, Max and Sam invited him to bring the competition under the Strongman Corporation Canada umbrella. This opened the door to additional classes and provided athletes with a clear pathway to national-level competition. He continues to enjoy creating opportunities for athletes in New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada to compete and showcase their strength.
